Associated Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons have been serving patients in Peoria, IL for over 45 years.  We are leaders in oral surgery, specializing in wisdom teeth extractions, dental implant placement, and complex oral surgery needs for jaw correction, trauma, and identified pathology. 

We are excited to announce our busy office is growing and we are in need of a Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team at our Peoria location.  This position will also be required to travel to our Macomb office on occassion (carpool will be available.)

Job Responsibilites will include:

  • Assisting our surgeons during surgery in office as well as at a local hospital with room set up and instrument passing. (This may include working night/weekend hours at the hospital with our surgeons on occasion.)
  • Reviewing upcoming cases to ensure that all appropriate instrumentation is in order for use during procedure.
  • Preparing treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
  • Preparing patients for treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patients.
  • Providing information to patients and employees by answering questions and requests.
  • Providing instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for surgeon's access, suctioning, passing instruments.
  • Helping surgeon manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.
  • Maintaining patient airway while patient is under sedation.
  • Educating patients by giving oral hygiene and postoperative instructions
  • Documenting dental care services by charting in patient electronic health records.
  • Maintaining patient confidence and protecting operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Decontaminating and sterilizing instrumets, medical supplies, and equipment.
  • Maintaining a clean, sterile work enviroment.

Candidate will be required to work full time, Monday through Friday, day shift hours.  On occasion, candidate will also go to hospital to assist on cases after normal office hours through the week and on the weekends.  Qualified candidates will  be certified as a surgical technologist, compassionate with patients, experienced with electronic health records, and enjoy working in a fast paced enviroment. Dental experience is a plus but not required.
